Dr Ajoy Thachil – Consultant Psychiatrist in London
Dr Thachil is a general adult psychiatrist who specializes in liaison psychiatry, neuropsychiatry and psychiatric rehabilitation.
He has interests in:
- Common mental disorders
- Demoralization related to physical illness
- Post-traumatic stress disorder
- Mental disorders comorbid with epilepsy (including non-epileptic seizures)
- Hypoxic-ischaemic brain injury
- Organic mood disorders, psychosis and personality change
- Psychiatric consequences of movement disorders
- Functional neurological disorders.
Dr Thachil works collaboratively with senior colleagues from Psychology, Neurology, Psychotherapy and Occupational Therapy to help patients (especially students and diverse professionals) who find that their functioning and achievement are impaired by these illnesses.
Patients are expected to complete a semistructured pre-assessment questionnaire to clarify their reasons for seeking help, their understanding of their own illness, their past psychiatric and medical history and their past experience/s of treatment. They may be requested to complete and return further screening and diagnostic scales via email once the doctor has received the completed questionnaire.
