Dr. Giacomo Chiaro – Consultant Neurologist
Dr Giacomo Chiaro is a Specialty Doctor at the Autonomic Unit of the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery at Queen Square, UCLH NHS Trust. He has specialized in the management of patients with neurodegenerative disorders (mostly alpha-synucleinopathies such as Parkinson’s disease, multiple system atrophy, Lewy body dementia, pure autonomic failure), all-cause autonomic dysfunction (intermittent disorders such as syncopes, postural tachycardia syndrome, progressive disorders such as pure autonomic failure, autonomic autoimmune ganglionopathies, autonomic failure in the context of alpha-synucleinopathies, diabetic autonomic neuropathy, and amyloidosis), sleep disorders and epilepsy, as well as headache.
Dr Chiaro obtained his MD at the University of Bologna, Italy, and he trained in Neurology at the Neurocenter of Southern Switzerland in Lugano, Switzerland.
His current research activity focuses on autonomic failure and sleep disorders. He is currently following two clinical trials. The results of his research were published in peer-reviewed journals such as Brain, Nature, NPJ, and Sleep.
